Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival

Starts at 7pm. A colourful illuminated procession of over 150 entrants, many large vehicles with many thousands of lights, which can take 2-3 hours to complete. Many photographic opportunities but get there early to get a good spot at the front.

Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival - Squibbing

10:45pm after the carnival procession around 150 Squibbers are involved in a simultaneous firing of large fireworks. They line Bridgwater High Street two wide and all light their squibs at the same time. The large firework is strapped to a cosh, and the squibbers hold it at arms length above their heads.

Carlisle Fireshow

Bitts Park, Carlisle, Cumbria. 6:30pm. A bonfire and firework spectacular. Set in parkland in the centre of Carlisle, fairground nearby. Lasts about an hour.

Sparks in the Park

Coopers Field, Bute Park, Cardiff. Gates open 4.30pm. At 7pm a spectacular half hour display of pyrotechnics takes place, there is also a bonfire, on-stage entertainment from a series of famous artists, as well as fun fair rides, food stalls and many other family attractions.

Lewes Bonfire Parade

Lewes, Sussex. 5.30pm to Midnight. Town closes at 5.30pm and there is no parking in town. 6pm Blazing Barrel Run and torch parade in Cliffe High Street. Grand Procession in High Street starts at 7.30pm, followed by bonfire and fireworks.

4th to 18th November 2017. This link goes to the page which lists all Somerset Carnivals by date, starting with Bridgwater and ending with Glastonbury. These larger ones take about 2-3 hours to to complete their routes.

05/11/2017 Fireworks on Poole Quay Poole, Dorset. Starts 5pm with street entertainers, live music and more packed along the quay with the Fireworks on the water at 8pm. Fireworks

Tar Barrels

Ottery St Mary, Devon. Rolling starts at 4.30pm, finishing at midnight. An annual event where barrels are soaked with tar and lit and carried on peoples back through the streets. Starts late afternoon with junior barrels, the size of the adult barrels grow until the final enormous one is carried at Midnight. There is also a gigantic 30ft bonfire and fairground.

London to Brighton Veteran Car Run

Starts at Hyde Park, London at 6.58am. First pair of cars built before 1905 leave and then the rest follow in pairs until all have left. Will start to arrive in Preston Park, Brighton from 10am onwards.

05/11/2017 Longleat Festival of Light 5th November 2017 to 7th January 2018 Longleat House and Wildlife Park, nr Warminster, Wiltshire. This spectacular light festival is returning in 2017, no exact date fixed at the time of putting this diary page together. Longleat

Weston Super Mare Guy Fawkes Carnival

Weston Super Mare, Somerset. Starts 7.15pm. A Circular route that travels down Beach Road (A370), starting at Locking Road car park. Following a different route this year, due to work being carried out on the sea defences. A good reason to go to the seaside in the winter.

Veteran Fours Head of the River Race

Putney, London. 10am. From Chiswick Bridge to Putney Pier. An annual veterans 4's rowing event over the same course as the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. Also includes a non-veteran and junior events.

Lord Mayors Show - London

Guildhall, London. Starts 11am. A street parade watched by the new Lord Mayor from outside of Mansion House. The parade includes horses, floats, motor vehicles, marching bands and carriages. It takes about one hour to pass. The Lord Mayor follows at the end of the procession in his golden coach. The procession travels past St Paul's Cathedral and ends at the Royal Courts of Justice in Aldwych. At 1.00pm the procession returns, starting near Temple tube station, and following Victoria Embankment and Queen Victoria Street back to the Guildhall, finishing at about 2:30pm. Fireworks over the Thames at 5:15pm between Blackfriars and Waterloo.

11th November 2017 to 18 February 2018 Centre for Life, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Open air winter ice rink for locals and visitors to use. Open 7 days a week check website for exact times and prices.

Newark Vintage Tractor & Heritage Show

11th and 12th November 2017 Newark Showground, Winthorpe, Newark, Notts. Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 9am-3.30pm. Held inside 12 acres of halls and marquees with over 400 vintage tractors on display as well as steam, mini steam, working displays, trade stands and more.

Remembrance events take place all across Britain to remember those that have died or been injured during wars. The largest event being at The Cenotaph in London, which takes place on the 2nd Sunday in November.

Head of the Rivers Fours

London. 11am. Chiswick Steps to Putney Pier, teams of 4 row the four mile course down the River Thames. Entries are limited to 550 participants and it is usually over subscribed.

Shepton Mallet Carnival

Starts at 7.30pm. A night time illuminated carnival with many of the floats from the Bridgwater Carnival taking part. Procession starts outside the Mendip District Council offices and ends in Whitestone Road.

Winter Wonderland

17th November 2017 to 1st January 2018 Hyde Park, London. 10am-10pm daily. Winter Wonderland features an outdoor ice rink, a traditional and authentic German Christmas Market, a 60m giant observation wheel with views of Hyde Park, and loads more. It is returning, but no exact date available when putting this page together, check out their website link for details.

25th November to 3rd December 2017 Each year, Tree Council members, local authorities, up to 200 schools and community groups, and 8,000 Tree Wardens amongst others, organise events, inspiring people to get their hands dirty and together plant around a million trees.

Royal Welsh Agricultural Winter Fair

27th and 28th November 2017 Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, Wales. Gates open at 8am. As well as the animals there is also a Food Hall, Gift Hall, 100's trade stands and more. Late night shopping on Monday FREE entry after 4pm and a firework display at 7pm.

30/11/2017 Christmas Tree Festival 30th November to 7th December 2017 Fakenham Parish Church, Norfolk. 10am-8pm each day, Sundays 12noon to 7:45pm. 70+ decorated trees adorn the Grade 1 listed Church, with Christmas market and refreshments. Donations go to local charities. Tree Festival
